A very rare Nantgarw inkwell from the private collection of the late Harold Davies of West Wales Antiques, his collection sticker is attached to the base. Harold Davies was probably the most knowledgeable scholar of Welsh pottery and porcelain. This inkwell is decorated in the manner of the duke of Newcastle service which was painted by Moses Webster, an Oval dish from that service can be seen illustrated in list of items we have for sale. For a similar Inkwell please see Nantgarw Porcelain by Rowland Williams fig 83. A similar inkwell sold for £6000 inc at Bonhams London, Knightsbridge LOT 202 2 Nov 2015. Nantgarw inkwells are very rare items and even more so with this superb decoration The condition is as seen in the photos, there is a feint glaze scratch mark to the well £ 2750.00
