Swansea Punch Bowl

This is an extremely rare large punch bowl 14 1/2 inches wide 6 1/2 inches high the inside of the foot rim with the initials I. W. inscribed under the glaze. Isaac Wood was a modeller and manager at the Cambrian Pottery during the Bevington period, and for a short time during 1831 the L L Dillwyn period, even more unusual is its decoration in the Mandarin pattern more usually found on Swansea porcelain , the only other recorded punch bowls of this size are the Lougher bowl as mentioned in E Morton Nance page 125 & plate L111 e f & g. and the Richardson Francis bowl decorated with with the arms of Glamorgan the underneath "Made at Dillwyn's Pottery Swansea. There is a restored hairline crack to side Circa 1817-1824 £ 1550.00
