A rare and unusual Swansea Porcelain cup & saucer decorated by William Billingsley . This decoration is shown on a similar cup and saucer illustrated in Nantgarw Porcelain Illustration 38 B by W D John. The cup has the unusual loop handle as described in Swansea Porcelain by W D John Illustration 26 b. where he again attributes them to Billingsley. The Swansea mark to the cup and saucer shown in picture 4 matches exactly that shown to be by William Billingsley illustrated in Swansea porcelain shapes and decoration page 234 illustration 3. The decoration showing convolvulus and roses by a superior hand in all a rare example of William Billingsley's decoration on Swansea Porcelain Just minor wear to gilding as seen in photos otherwise good condition Circa 1815-17 SOLD £ 950.00
