A fine Nantgarw Porcelain Dish Sold

A fine Nantgarw Porcelain oval dish from the Nantgarw china works. This Nantgarw porcelain dish is from a service that is displayed in the National Museum of Wales (see picture 4). The large soup tureen from the collection is illustrated fig 69 page 29 of Nantgarw Porcelain by Rowland Williams. The Nantgarw Album by W D John illustrates a similarly decorated plate illustration 45, which was sold by Messrs. Mortlocks Ltd. London, which was described by them as unequalled by any other house. The London floral decoration, raised honey gilding and fine porcelain shows that Nantgarw China works produced the finest porcelain of its day, picture 3 shows the exceptional quality of this services where the gilder had spared no expense by gilding the foot rim. A fine addition to any Nantgarw collection Circa 1818-20 unmarked SOLD £ 1150.00
