A Fine Nantgarw Porcelain Plate from the Brace service

A fine Nantgarw porcelain plate from the Brace service 8 1/2 inch. Produced at the Nantgarw china works and decorated by J Bradley & co 47 Pall Mall London the well known London china retailers and decorators. A tureen cover and stand from this service is displayed at the National Museum of Wales, the service is illustrated in W D John Nantgarw porcelain 31b where he wrongly attributes the decoration of a square dish from this service to Robins & Randall. In his book Nantgarw Porcelain Album illustration 2 he shows a Nantgarw dish with a central decoration showing a bird ,the border with a similar decoration to the Brace service. A service produced by the Swansea porcelain factory with a similar border bears the inscription "J Bradley and co 47 Pall Mall London". The fine example we have here has a C scroll moulded border the centre decorated with a floral bouquet, the border with a bird, fruit and flowers In excellent condition Circa 1818-20 Impressed Nantgarw C W £ 1250.00
