A Nantgarw Porcelain plate as displayed at the National Museum of Wales
A Nantgarw Porcelain plate from the Nantgarw china works. This Nantgarw porcelain plate is from a service that is displayed at the National Museum of Wales (see picture 4). The large soup tureen from the collection is illustrated fig 69 page 29 of Nantgarw Porcelain by Rowland Williams. The Nantgarw Album by W D John illustrates a similarly decorated plate illustration 45, which was sold by Messrs. Mortlocks Ltd. London, which was described by them as unequalled by any other house. The London floral decoration, raised honey gilding and fine porcelain shows that Nantgarw China works produced the finest porcelain of its day, picture 3 shows the exceptional quality of this service where the gilder had spared no expense with the superb raised honey gilding . A fine addition to any Nantgarw collection. Rare Impressed Nantgarw c.w with an incised B below, probably to show William Billingsley or his son in law Samuel Walker which firing this plate came from. In very good condition Circa 1818-20
